#956 Quit being sheep

by Dean Dwyer on January 27, 2010 · Comments

Just for today…

LEAD. Create. Take initiative. Be creative. Be bold. Don’t compromise. Tell the truth. Try something new. Say no. Screw the status quo. Live on the edge. Be different. Have no regrets. Take a stand.

Just for today quit being sheep and live your life your way! Be 100% you.

To an idea worth quitting,

Dean

  • Baaaaa. Okay--I had to.

One of the things I like to do when teaching art techniques to kids is to give them the directive, "Draw the way you would if you were an____." Insert elephant, robot, old man, slug, fairy princess, evil monster, good guy, bad guy, etc. After they are well into the experience I give them, "Okay--now draw the way you would if you were all those things--because you are!!"
Oh, the amazing things that happen.
  • Love it Julie. Your last line reminds of the Dr. Seuss book, The places I've been (at least I think that is the title.) Maybe you have a children's book in you???
  • Wow, Dean! Your drawing skills have improved overnight!
  • I'm a prodigy my friend. Sometimes people such as Gary Larson can say (or in this case draw) something much better than I can. This was certainly the case here. That and my sheep drawing skills are even worse than my people drawing skills.
