QuitBit Week in Review-A week of trying to quit complaining (video)

Here is a recap of some of the things I worked on behind the scenes this past week.

1. Site upgrades…

I added a new comments section to my site.  It has more added features than my previous comments widget.   This one enables you to do a few things the other could not.

  • you can indicate whether you like a comment or not.  It’s not rocket science. You read the comment and if you like it, you click the button that says, “Like.”
  • you can reply specifically to someone’s comment regardless of where it is in the comment queue.  Think of it like a really long line up for the washroom and you simply cut in wherever you want, and ain’t nothin’ anyone can do about it.  Simply click the reply button on the comment you want to reply to and type away like a monkey on crack.
  • the coolest feature – you can subscribe to the comments on a particular post.  Just click where it says, “Subscribe by email” just about the first comment.  This way, if you leave a comment and want to see what others are saying, you will get an email in your inbox letting you know someone has just left a comment.  Don’t flip out however if it is not a response to your comment.  Some people are really selfish and only want to say what is on their mind :-)   What up with that?

2.  Adding a picture to your comment…

For those of you who have commented, you may have noticed that the icon beside your comment is not you (unless you look like Sponge Bob Square Pants…in which case, it is you.)  If you would like to become world famous and have your picture show up like mine does when I leave comments, simply mail me $50 and I will set it up for you sucker go to www.gravatar.com.

It’s really easy.  Click on the “Get your gravatar today” button and then simply enter the email address you will use to leave comments and then upload one of your smokin’ hot photos and you are then good to go.

The next time you want to leave a comment, you simply login with your name and email address and it will automatically include your picture when you post your comment.  Give it try tomorrow if you want to check it out.

Oh, this fancy smancy little feature will allow you to have a picture on any blog where you leave a comment.  How cool is that eh?

3.  A few paid learning experiences…

No not hookers you crazy kids, but rather two people I have been following online who really know their stuff; Brain Clark and Sonia Simone, both from Copyblogger.

Brian is currently is currently offering an online course called Lateral Action which I have signed up to take.  The purpose of the course is to teach people how to better position their global micro brand so they have a greater possibility to be profitable.  I signed up immediately for that bad boy.  It is a 6 week course, with 3 modules released each week.  I have just completed week one and really like it.   The 250 clams I had to shell out (get it clams…shell out???) for this course will certainly pay for itself.

Sonia’s course is a bit different.  She has just opened up a membership site called Remarkable Marketing Blueprint (I was the first one to join in fact.)  I have only recently discovered Sonia, but I really like the way she communicates.  The kid knows her marketing.  She is a soft sell type of gal who manages to incorporate her sense of humour into her powerful message.  This one will cost me $27/month, but again simply having her as a resource will definitely pay for itself.

In fact, she added me as a twitter friend on Tuesday and my number of friends has almost quadrupled since that add.  Ok they are not my real friends, but twitter is going to play a big part in my success down the road so I need to start building my presence there now.

You should check it out (twitter) if you are not already on there.  It’s a great business/networking tool.

4.  A week without complaining…

So my focus was to try and go the week without complaining.  Well needless to say, that didn’t happen, but I did manage to go Friday to Sunday without complaining.

What I did was use  my new little flip video camera I have to video myself every time I caught myself complaining.  Turns out I’m not a huge complainer.  I caught myself 9 times.  It seems the things that make me complain the most are my critters, my car, my computer, and cab drivers.

I have attached my 4 minute video documenting my accounts.  Some were done early in the morning before I had a chance to resuscitate my hair, so excuse my lack of hotness.  Also, I am still getting used to the video camera so many of my videos have me with no top to my head.  I look like a middle aged Frankenstein.

Click on my face below to few my masterpiece.

Thanks again for those who read my posts and/or commented this week.

If you have any ideas for quit posts, let me know.  I have 962 more to write so I can use all the help I can get.

Have an awesome week. :o ) (Hey look I made a pig…how talented am I?)

To ideas that are really worth quitting,

Dean
